Faculty of Economics and Faculty of Liberal Arts collaborated to provide a TFT menuHachioji Campus

On Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at the student cafeteria, Solatio Kitchen, on Hachioji Campus of Teikyo University, a seminar was held by Lisa Nagai, Senior Assistant Professor Department of Economics Faculty of Economics, and Saika Sato, a Professor the Department of Sociology Faculty of Liberal Arts in collaboration with the introductory seminar class for TFT. * The menu item offered was "Tonpeiyaki Donburi."
Nagai's seminar is engaged in various social contribution activities based on environmental economics, with a particular focus on TFT activities. In addition, in Professor Sato's introductory seminar, students learn about food waste, processed foods, TFT, and other aspects of diet and society, which led to this collaboration. Students in the introductory seminar class devised menus, considering factors such as calories and cost rates, and how to get students to buy them, while Nagai's seminar students coordinated with the student cafeteria staff and handled public relations activities to actually sell the meals. Many faculty, staff, and students lined up on the day, and 201 meals were sold. Tsunehara Chisa (2nd year, Faculty of Liberal Arts) commented, "I was thinking about creating a satisfying menu using Western Japanese cuisine, and so I proposed tonpeiyaki. It's very moving to see it actually made into a menu and being enjoyed by other students." Uchida Chihiro (2nd year, Faculty of Liberal Arts) commented, "It was fun to think up the menu while considering balance. I'm happy that it's actually made into a menu and so many students are eating it." Matsushita Kazuki (2nd year, Faculty of Liberal Arts) commented, "The group work was a great experience. The TFT menu is available for about the same price as the other menu items, so I would like to continue choosing it as a way of contributing to society."
Teikyo University will continue to promote efforts to achieve the SDGs.

  • * TABLE FOR TWO is an abbreviation for TABLE FOR TWO, an initiative promoted by the international NPO TABLE FOR TWO International, which aims to eliminate the food imbalance between diet-related lifestyle diseases such as obesity in developed countries and the problems of hunger and malnutrition in developing countries, thereby simultaneously improving the health of both groups. For each TFT menu item purchased, 20 yen is donated to help pay for school meals for children in developing countries.
